How do I know you adopt best practices?

As a charity we are regulated by normal legislative bodies and the Charity Commission. Our extremely positive review visit report by the Charity Commission is available on request.

In addition, however, we created a medical/educational advisory committee comprising several eminent experts in a variety of disciplines, who help us benchmark and monitor our practices and therapists’ training. (The therapists undergo a rigorous six-month induction process at BIBIC, culminating in a Level 3 NVQ). Their training and development is ongoing, with attendance at relevant conferences, support for their continuous learning within their professional disciplines, and in-house training. Our reflexes work is accredited with and monitored by the Institute for Neuro-Physiological Psychology. Our nutrition practice is in line with the ethical guidelines set out and licensed by the British Association for Nutritional Therapists.

In 1999 we received an excellent report from an independent multi-disciplinary team who examined all of our therapeutic practices.

In respect of our overall organisational practices, we received external validation and endorsement in 2001 and 2002 in the form of a national Health and Safety award, Investors in People (re-credited 2005 for Somerset and Wales), the Southwest Employer of the Year award, National Training award, UK Small Employer of the Year award, runner-up in the best boss in Britain award and UK Charity Principal of the Year. You can be assured we recognise the importance of external audits and scrutiny of our work.
