Conditions....

Listed below is a list of some of the conditions we work with that may cause children to have learning difficulties. Please just click on the condition to find out more....

Dyspraxia

Dyspraxia

Dyspraxia is a specific learning difficulty. 'Dys' means difficulty, 'praxia' means planning movement. The body require a sequence of instructions from the brain to coordinate movement, sometimes to different parts of the body at the same time eg crawling.

Given time and practice most movements become automatic. People with dyspraxia find it difficult to plan and automate movements and often the more they think about it the less co-ordinated they become. Difficulties also occur in maintaining balance and stillness.

Dyspraxia can affect speech, gross motor and fine motor skills. Creating a safe learning environment and breaking down movements into small parts for practice can help people with dyspraxia to overcome some of their difficulties.
